Tongue tied..oh so squeamish...

Pretty much since my oldest has been in school, the deal with the ex has been that we each drive halfway to a midpoint between our towns when it comes time for their visitations during holidays.

Which for the most part, I dont really mind NOW as much as I used to. Baby seats, diapers...etc...always made a hassle. Now its juice boxes and books.

But the one thing that REALLY annoys the SHIT out of me...EVERY time...they decide to meet at a GAS STATION.

I really found it annoying when we lived in Aransas...cause we would meet at a Texaco that closed at 6 PM...when there was a McDonalds not 5 minutes up the road. But I kept my mouth shut...trying to be nice for the daughters sake.

Then we moved here. And the last 2 times, we have met up HERE at a local BBQ eatery, when they were on their way to a relative in Dallas. Fine by me. Feed the kids is a good thing.

This time, some one pulled out the MapQuest, and located a precise spot, exactly halfway between there and here. And where is it?

A frigging GAS STATION. Ill be leaving here around 6, I think...pulling into the station right around 7:30....and I swear, if I see a McD's or something next to that damn station, I'm pulling in there. They can drive the extra MINUTE or two to pick up kiddo. Thats why there are cell phones.

Sheesh.

So, with it being one week untill the mass exodus of any type of civility from my young ones...I must say that I am quite happy with my haul for them this year.

Santa Claus has been quite generous to them...2 bicycles, and Ben 10 toys and boots for the boy, and Fairy Ponies and a Princess backpack for the girl...Along with a slew of DVDs...Cars, The Fox and the Hound, (Original, not the sequel), and the original Robin Hood, clothing, board games, knick knacks, and other various gotta haves...Now all I have to do is wrap and hide.

On a slightly bitter note though, HOW come Disney DVDs are so damn expensive? Even at Christmas? I found all the Harry Potters for 10 bucks each, and LOADS of others cheap too! But Disney remains steadfast with their commitment to squeeze me dry when purchasing DVDs from them. 20 bucks a pop, IF I'm lucky enough to find it. If Im not, I may look at 25-30 a pop...totally annoying. I remember one year, absolutely DYING to find my husband a copy of The Black Cauldron on VHS..cause DVD wasnt quite as affordable then as it is now...and I had to look over hell and high water for the damn thing. And even now, we are pretty much at Disneys mercy as to what they put out, how long it will be out, and just how many appendages we are willing to shell out for it. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE a good Disney movie...but with their prices, I pretty much just stick to my VHS collection of what I already have, and just deal with not updating them to DVD anytime soon.

Oh, and my DVD player finally bit the dust as well. Right in the middle of watching a brand new Acceleracers movie. Grrrrrrrr. I found a combo DVD/VHS at Wal Mart for 50 bucks...so hey...yay.
